I was invited to visit the new P.T.S.D. Center in Leicestershire called OPRECO which is a 40 bedded unit. Which was opened on the 3rd of December 2011. It is a fantastic unit and it also accomodates families as well as the exservice clients, this unit includes on site treatment facilities and help for exservice clients with the resources to move on with their lives.I will be starting work there with the unit for asscessments purposes and also treatments , to assist the families to be better educated in the future. This will also be linked to the project in Heanor.Watch this blog for new updates on this project.

well I went to the doctor today but only made me worse that before i went . I was told ok, the pyshical movement will come back quite quickly but the mental health aspect will take a lot longer to do which is not what i want to hear. I am angry as i want to think clearly again and it seems to be as far away as before. I am getting angry with the dog and it is not his fault I never thought it would be so difficult having had a stroke even a slight one . What it would be like if I lost my speach althogether as it is bad enough with what i have got. |

I am recoverying from a slight stroke and it has made my PTSD much worse as it has made me realise that my life is under threat again and it has brought it home to me how limited my life has become. My ability to type has become much worse and very slow and difficult . It is very frustrating to have to slow down . It could make me feel very angry and bitter but as I must not let it do that. I have had a much limited ability to talk for a while I was talking like I was a drunken person. |

It is welcomed the news that the mod have finally recognised the importance of dealing any PTSD issues early and getting more ex-service personnel to look at how they cope with what has happened to them during their service . However there is still no mentioned of the impact that a PT SD suffer has on their family and also their children. So the latest news on the use of the new publicity campain to recognise PTSD is welcomed but the families have also have to be consided as well to raise the public knowledge on the subject of secondary traumazation. |

With the full co-operation of the Gamelea Training Trust the FTCUK has started to do PTSD asscessments and reports in the Prison system starting with Winson Green Prison in Birmingham. This is the start of the Gamelea Training Trust housing project based in Heanor in Derbyshire. Any exservice prisoner based in any prison in the Uk can request a asscessment interview to be considered for accomodation and therapy and retraining to help them to merge back in civilian life. |

Yesterday I was delivering a "Trauma in the family " course in Weymouth to a wide range of therapists and other workers who work with prisoners and also who work with children . It was very interesting day and it raised a lot of comments spome which i found to be away of improving the presentation and making more interesting to the group it is aimed at. Which is not therapists but the families who live wtih a sufferer I felt it went very well and we recieved assome good feed back on the feedback sheets and in general every one who attended got some thing from the day. |
