Trauma in the Family by W. John Roberts – A Review by a reader

Having read “Trauma In The Family” in a single afternoon, I found the information contained surprising, illuminating and fascinating.  Not only are the chapters clear and well defined, which explained what P.T.S.D is but also showed a depth of understanding into the consequences for suffers and  the effects this condition can have on family members and friends.

The authors use of personal experiences, brought home the very real problems ordinary men, women and children face on a daily basis.  As I read through the chapters, the definitions set out in the book, allowed me to look inwards on myself and identify experiences from my own life that relate to incidents of P.T.S.D.  Armed with this knowledge at least I have the tools and understanding to take the next step to treatment.

For anyone who feels a sense of loss and despair on a regular basis, or for anyone looking for answers on their quest to help a friend.  I would thoroughly recommend “Trauma In The Family” as their starting point, on a journey of many steps on the road to recovery.

Hello, As a 90 year old veteran of WW2, (Dunkirk- Normandy) I take great interest in surfing the net in as many countries as I can, the present situation in practically all countries is just an enormous problem, and it is good to see how it is being coped with worldwide. I also realize that this problem has always existed where war is concerned. I feel that exchange of writing pos and stories between similar sites would give a great deal of help and understanding to sufferers. ask for help world wide, and remember that it is not a weakness but an illness. Keep up the good work. About me. Joined H.M. Welsh Guards 1938, served Dunkirk Normandy . 8 years and 88 days. Now write for Flow, Forces Poetry, and Forces Stories, a sight dedicated to helping Service people and their families. user name Taffy.

"What a fantastic site. It has everything you could possibly want and need to know. You make the unacceptable and difficult easier to cope with . What a relief to have someone who understands and can help put it right. Thank you".
