IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT.
We are the only Free web site on PTSD that does not ask for donations. This site is entirely funded by personal donations from one individaul out of his war pension. We are also the only web site that offers really free eduactional training and support for no personal gain. I am willing to travel the length and breath of europe and the UK just for the out of pocket expernses of doing the free educational training courses that we run. The aim is to get a 1000 accredted therapist's trained a year for the next 5 years. We have the only fully accredited short training course in the UK and I also believe in europe.
98% of all thereapist's in the UK who claim to be able to treat PTSD have no formal training in PTSD and this is a crazy sitituation, as training is available at a modest cost. There is no agreed standard of training or even qualified supervison for PTSD out there both of which this centre will provide for a reasonable cost.
We can also offer free training to family members who have to live with a sufferer and this improves the situation in a dramatic manner as you can then understasnd what is happening with your loved one and this will help the family deal with them better.
I am already providing this free educational training and support to local substance misuse agencies and also domestic violence refuges.
The Family Trauma Centre UK is based on the idea that Trauma when it strikes a family member will affect the whole family and not just the individual.
Therefore we as a society have to change the whole idea of how we help an individual by looking at how an individuals trauma related problems affect all members of the family associated with them. This is a very controversial approach but one which needs to happen to effectively help the whole family recover.
Having had 42 years experience of living with PTSD and seeing what it did to my family. I have recently written and published a book that highlights the problems experienced when a family member is traumatised.
I have available a series of one day courses designed to give both health professionals and also family members, the tools to deal successfully with the problems that PTSD and related high anxiety disorders that can cause a family to experience trauma.
